I'm interested in discussing my copywriting project with you. What is your process?

You can start by sending me a message using my Contact Form. Include your phone number and email along with a brief description of your project.

My process starts with an initial conversation with you regarding your project. We can do this either by phone or via Skype.

Before our scheduled talk, I'll send you a list of preliminary questions for you to think about.

Here's an example of the kinds of questions I might ask you:

  • "Tell me about your business. What do you sell or offer?"
  • "How do you hope to increase business through this project?"
  • "What can you tell me about your typical customer/buyer? Do you have any customer demographics?"
  • "What's the biggest challenge you've been having with your marketing or copy?"
  • "What’s working now? Conversely, what's broken or what frustrates you about your marketing/content?”
  • “What’s the competition for this product or service, and how are you different/better?”

During our conversation, I'll let you know how I can help you improve sales and resolve any marketing frustrations you're experiencing. Within 24-48 hours of our conversation, I'll send you an email with my written proposal.

My proposal will include a detailed description of your copywriting project with objectives, the expected deliverables, deadline information and pricing.

If you accept my proposal, we'll then move on to the next step —hiring me and getting me started—which I discuss here...

How do I go about hiring you? Do I sign a contract? Do you require a fee up front to get started?

Once we've come to a mutual agreement on the parameters of your project, we will need to sign a contract that describes the work to be done, the deliverables and the time frame.

I have a contract we can modify according to your project specifications. Or, if you have a contract that your company uses for freelancers, we can use that and modify it for your project.

For most projects (particularly long-form copywriting), I require a 50% fee up front before beginning work. Upon completion/delivery of the project, I will invoice you for the remaining 50%.

I have a tight deadline. Can you start on my copywriting project right away?

My availability to start immediately depends on my current workload. I strive to accommodate my client's deadlines as I fully understand that rush projects can come up unexpectedly. The best way to find out if I can meet your deadline is to send me a message via my Contact Form.

What kind of turnaround time can I expect?

Turnaround time depends on a lot of factors... length of copy, complexity of the topic, amount of research required, etc.

Part of my process is to ask you all the questions needed during our first interview so that I can determine a realistic turnaround time for your project. I also take into consideration your deadlines and goals so that I can come up with an estimated completion date that is agreeable to both of us.

My primary focus is to provide my clients with the quickest turnaround possible while maintaining high quality in all the copy I produce.

What if I want to make revisions?

I include revisions [up to two times] in the fee that we agree upon for your copywriting project. There is no additional charge for revisions.

Just let me know what changes you'd like made and I'll revise the copy according to your guidelines.

Do you have a copy guarantee?

I guarantee your complete satisfaction with my marketing ideas, ethics and copywriting. My fees come with a guarantee that I’ll revise the content [up to two times] to make sure you’re completely satisfied with the way it reads.

However, please be aware there are many factors in your direct mail effort that I cannot control and may affect your campaign's outcome. This includes competition, product, market, price, list, demand, customer preferences and major events. Because of this, I cannot guarantee specific results.
